We’re making a difference on our estate:
In 2025:
- Our campaign for better youth facilities resulted in Lambeth Council taking possession of the Yellow Qube and engaging with residents about community wants and needs
- Our campaign for new cycle storage from MTVH resulted in the installation of cycle parking near Tillman House and Sheppard House and on Abbotts Park and Roupell Road
- We supported our local primary school, Fenstanton, in its successful efforts to remain open
- We won funding from the Co-op local community fund to further improve Huggins Corner as a green, biodiverse, community space
- Our gardening team partnered with Incredible Edible Lambeth to run workshops on vegetable and herb growing and biodiversity on our estate
- We joined forces with the Housing Associations and other local stakeholders to improve and better promote community events and activities around St Martin’s
- As an organisation committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, we shared good wishes for major religious and cultural festivals with residents, to reflect and celebrate the community on our estate
- We continued to engage with the local community police team, through membership of the Safer Neighbourhood Panel, to enhance safety on our estate.
In 2024:
- We persuaded the council to allow all estate residents to apply for free tickets to Brockwell Live festivals. In 2023 some residents were excluded
- We persuaded the council to serve notice on the current, bad, provider of the Yellow Qube. The council finally got vacant possession in December 2024
- Held events around community gardening and growing on Challice Way and Huggins Corner, helping to foster friendships on our estate, improve biodiversity and build community
In 2023:
- We persuaded NHG to install cycle parking and Optivo to give residents access to the cycle parking they had already installed. Having cycle parking really helped these people
- We launched a community composting project.
- We transformed Huggins Corner from a piece of waste ground to a wildflower meadow
- We got substantial service charge refunds for NHG leaseholders
In 2022:
- The vast majority of tenants who complained about damp in 2019 are now happy with the work done to fix it
- We persuaded MTVH to improve the transparency of their service charges
- We got compensation for MTVH residents who suffered from broken lifts
- We got compensation for tenants who were overcharged for water rates
- Our gardening project won the Blooming Lambeth awards
- We persuaded MTVH to treat a rat infestation in Gaywood Close
- We persuaded Optivo to take real action on an ant infestation in Baldwin House
In 2021 we:
- Persuaded MTVH to tackle a pigeon infestation and an unreliable lift in Williams House following a petitioning campaign
- Organised a winter celebration
In 2020 we:
- Persuaded Metropolitan to remove some pointless scaffolding from Gaywood Close
- Persuaded Optivo to send pest control to Baldwin House rather than claiming it was an individual problem.
