Broken MTVH lifts

There have been huge problems on our estate with broken lifts in MTVH properties

  • The Gwynne House lift was broken from 15th October 2021 to 17th December 2021
  • The Sheppard House lift was broken from 3rd December 2021 to 7th April 2022
  • The Taylor House lift was broken from 8th December 2021 to 18 May 2022

We’ve agreed to accept compensation of £10 a week for the disruption, with enhanced compensation for disabled people.

Residents were initially offered a derisory amount of compensation. Bell, our MP, thought this was not good enough

We had a public meeting in July 2022. “Residents from Sheppard House agreed to compensation offered, except for amount offered to disabled”.

MTVH subsequently increased their offer for Gwynne House to £50, in line with what Sheppard House residents were paying. In August 2022 we asked Bell, our MP, to chase for enhanced compensation for the disabled people in Gwynne House.

In September 2022 we asked Bell, our MP, to chase for enhanced compensation for the disabled people in Sheppard House. MTVH have now offered an extra £50 for disabled people in both Gwynne and Sheppard House. We don’t think this is adequate. Residents of Williams House were offered £250 when their lift broke in 2021
