Gaywood Close scaffolding to come down in August

Metropolitan have said the Gaywood Close scaffolding will come down by the end of August

Thanks to everyone who’s written to Metropolitan about the scaffolding that’s been outside 98 -121 Gaywood Close for over a year.

We’ve now received a further communication from Metropolitan.

The purpose of the works is to replace the old metal gutters and soffits with UPVc all around the two blocks and complications arose due to the way the works needed to be coordinated.  The scaffold belongs to one contractor and the works are being done by another. The process became lengthy as both contractors needed to ensure that they complied with their individual Health and Safety Regulations as well as each other’s.

Following the reintroduction of some works, we have now been able to resume works. I understand Breyer recently communicated with the residents of Gaywood Close regarding their impending attendance and were on site as of 29 June and plan to have all works completed within the next 8 weeks.

I have also discussed the concerns of the additional cost incurred for the scaffolding and have been assured these will be absorbed by Metropolitan rather charged to the Leaseholders.

So we propose putting the campaign on hold until 8 weeks after 29th June, i.e. Monday 24th August. If the scaffolding is still up we will relaunch the campaign to get it removed.

Does this seem sensible? If not, please contact us
