We’ve had reports of motorcyclists using the pavement that connects Challice Way to the South Circular
Residents disagree on the best way to tackle this
In October 2023 the police agreed to make this a ward priority. Please report any sightings of motorcyclists on the pavement please contact the local police. Please also contact Cllr Saleha Jaffer on sjaffer@lambeth.gov.uk. The Met Police told us in August 2024 “Any mopeds we have seen on the pavement have been spoken to” but are taking no police action beyond that
At the police liaison meeting in March 2024 two action points were agreed
- NHG will put in bollards (but no date for installation)
- Cllr Fitzroy will get CCTV cameras installed to cover 2 paths. Police will still need public to tell them when incidents occur, so they can look at relevant CCTV.
In late May 2024 the group “identified 3 paths from Christchurch Road to Challice Way that delivery drivers and others are using. A good alternative to bollards are planters. This won’t stop users entirely given that they have to allow wheelchair users, etc access, but it will slow them down a bit”
