If you live on the St Martin’s Estate and have an issue, please look at the contact routes and advice below. The Residents Association may also be able to help. Please contact us.
Reporting a Repair
How you report a repair depends on who your landlord is:
The housing associations are responsible for many of the estate roads, including most of the street lighting.
If you live in a SHG block and the lift breaks down, ask SHG for “Just Ask”. This will “help residents by carrying shopping up to their homes, helping residents up and down the stairs”.
Advice to renters — whether renting from a council, a housing association, or privately — on a range of repairs issues is provided by the Citizens Advice Bureau here.
Making a Complaint
Repairs not done in a timely fashion and poor repair and maintenance work are a major cause of residents’ complaints. If your landlord is slow to fix a communal repair (one affecting more than just your household), please let us know.
If your landlord is slow to fix an individual repair affecting your household, please look at how you can resolve the issue yourself, through complaints processes. We have information on how to make complaints and on the complaints process for each housing association.
Other sources of residents’ complaints include:
- health and safety issues
- issues with communal areas
- customer service issues
- antisocial behaviour
To help you address issues such as these, please also look at our information on how to make complaints.
Booking Community Centres/Community Events
If you want to hire a community centre or complain about another person who has hired it:

Various local organisations run community events and activities, which we regularly publicise through our TRA communications channels.
