When the building of the City Heights Academy was approved, Lambeth Council promised the youths of the community a Youth Centre. We campaigned for this through 2015 and now we’ve won. Details are here
So far in this campaign we have:
- In April we designed this leaflet giving background information
- In July we handed in a petition to Lambeth Council with over 400 signatures demanding the facility be open. The story was covered in the Brixton Blog
- In August we received an official response to our petition from the council
- In September we received confirmation that the ground floor of the Dip Site (the sports grounds and the changing rooms) are available for community groups to hire
- In November a youth club started in the new Dip Site
