Barriers in Challice Way

We’ve heard complaints cyclists and other users cannot get through the new Challice Way barriers. If this affects you please contact the Safer Neighbourhoods team

As you have probably noticed there are new barriers on the pedestrian paths from Challice Way to Christchurch Road. The aim is to stop motor vehicles using the paths.

The barriers were installed at the request of the local police who consulted via the Safer Neighbourhoods meetings.

We’ve heard complaints that these barriers are too narrow for cyclists, wheelchair users and others to pass through. If this affects you please contact the Safer Neighbourhoods team on SmsnpSecretary@gmail.com . If possible send a picture that shows why it is hard, you can see an example above

The Safer Neighbourhoods team would also be interested to hear if the design has been effective at stopping motorcyclists. If you have any comments please email them on SmsnpSecretary@gmail.com

Note that this issue is being dealt with by the Safer Neighbourhoods team. The residents association takes no view on the subject, apart from acknowledging the diversity of views amongst residents.
