Fenstanton School to close

Lambeth Council has decided to close Fenstanton School Holy Trinity School on Upper Tulse Hill.

The proposals to keep one of the schools open and amalgamate was deemed “unviable” due to falling pupil numbers, lack of parental response to the survey and a decrease in new starters for September 2025.

The residents association supported the campaign to save the schools. Our councillors asked the council “to do everything in your power to keep this well-loved and lively school”. Unfortunately this was not enough.

Fenstanton School has a long history on our estate. Work from their students featured in our residents’ association newsletters from the 1980s, many adult residents have fond memories of the school and students from the school designed our logo. It will be very disappointing to see it go.

Gillian Roberts, the school headteacher, said “Fenstanton has a long history embedded in the Tulse Hill community, with generations of families attending the school and with some staff who have worked for the school for decades.  We remain incredibly proud of our school community – our hard working pupils, our supportive families, dedicated staff and our external partnerships. We would like to thank you for your support and collaboration over the years and the support you’ve given throughout the consultation process. Your contribution has played a valued role in the life of the school, and we are truly grateful.”

Thanks to everyone who supported the campaign to save the schools, even though we didn’t get the result we wanted.
