Fenstanton School likely to merge with Holy Trinity

Fenstanton School is likely to merge with Holy Trinity on Upper Tulse Hill rather than closing.

We recently received this update from Gillian Roberts, the headteacher of Fenstanton School

On 4th and 5th November, NEU members (teachers), took industrial action and the school was closed to pupils.  The meeting at Lambeth Town Hall was very well attended by staff and parents/ carer from both Fenstanton and Holy Trinity primary schools. Representatives from Southwark Diocesan Board of Education (SDBE) also attended.

We’re really pleased that Cabinet members recommended closure of Fenstanton with modifications, subject to certain conditions being met.  The conditions are that we now need to submit a plan for amalgamation with Holy Trinity that is proved to be viable.

I’ve attached a letter which went out to parents/ carers and staff at both schools last week which gives more information and, as you’ll read, we feel this is an exciting opportunity for both schools and the community.

Since receiving the recommendation, I have attended two meetings with Holy Trinity senior leaders, governors and SDBE representatives.  This working party will meet on a weekly basis.

Next week, there will be a meeting for parents and staff to update them on the next steps, which includes consulting with stakeholders and I will keep you all updated during this process.

Once again, thank you for your continued support throughout the consultation, responding to the consultation and to those of you who were able to attend the public meeting in September.  Your kind words of encouragement and unwavering support throughout this period really means a lot to my team and I.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the campaign so far. This isn’t the end of the story
