Motorcyclists on the Challice Way pavement

NHG met with the police liaison group and local councillors in late May 2024. They hope installing bollards or planters will deter motorcyclists from using the Challice Way pavement.

They identified 3 paths from Christchurch Road to Challice Way that delivery drivers and others are using. A good alternative to bollards are planters. This won’t stop users entirely given that they have to allow wheelchair users, etc access, but it will slow them down a bit.

There is no timetable on installing planters. Cllr Fitzroy is monitoring this

Also Cllr Saleha Jaffer was enthusiastic at the prospect of new planters to plant, so the housing associations will look into this.

CCTV is more of a problem. There would be a cost, at present unknown, and it would only be effective by identifying some drivers and fining them. We will be told what the potential cost would be and then we can decide if it is worth pursuing.

This issue is being led by the police liaison group. If you have any thoughts on this please email ASMailbox-.StMartin’s@met.police.uk or contact your councillors

  1. Good morning

May we deal in the St Martins TRA with the BIN issues, they are broken and on weekends we have a mess on the pavement at Challice way. Foxes get inside and they spill over the trash underneath, MOSTLY of the mess on the street is coming from this easy fix , replace the bins. and i feel like third world citiz\en when what to my surprise something basic which I am paying wity my city council tax nobody do anything.

City council should replace those OLD and BROKEN bins ASAP.

This has been told at least by Metropolitan Housekeepers 1-2 years ago and nobody has done anything and it is a surprise for me nobody claim or do anything.
