The incident occurred near the junction of Christchurch Road and Hillside Road at 0547.
Police located a 47 year old male nearby with lacerations to his face.
London Ambulance Service attended and conveyed the male to a local hospital.
A suspect has been arrested and, as of 19th November, remains in custody.
The police urge anyone who may have any information or was in the area to call police on 101 quoting CAD Ref: 1332/18NOV or CRIS 1235948/23. .
