In 2022 NHG decided to upgrade the electrics in their properties on High Trees. This involved putting lots of ugly trunking in residents flats. Cllr Saleha Jaffer has agreed to take up the case on our behalf.
If you’re an NHG resident in High Trees please write to sjaffer@lambeth.gov.uk to express your concern. Using your own words is best, but if you have writers block try the following. And please copy in StMartinsResidentsLambeth@gmail.com

Dear Cllr Jaffer
I am most concerned that when NHG upgraded the electrical works in my flat they installed trunking. This is ugly and makes it hard to redecorate. Please ask NHG to improve this: either by burying the wires in the walls or plastering over the trunking.

Dear Cllr Jaffer
I am most concerned that NHG may soon upgrade the electrical works in my flat. I am worried that when they do they will install trunking, just like they did in Harbin House. This is ugly and makes it hard to redecorate. Please ask NHG to do higher quality work in my block: either by burying the wires in the walls or plastering over the trunking.

NHG decided to up-grade the electricity supply to both blocks of Harbin House. They did not discuss this with residents and the first awareness they had was when workers from Niblock started drilling holes in the floor of the landings outside of my door.
The electricians spent about 3 hours in each flat fixing up the cables including the trunking. Laura from Harbin House was shocked at how intrusive the trunking is. See pictures
When the resident contacted Elizabeth Brown, the housing officer, she was told “nothing would be done about it”. So we’re having to escalate this to a local councillor.
We know that something can be done about it: the cables can go under the plaster. Or NHG can plaster over the trunking as happened in Sheppard House. But with the current trunking Laura can’t redecorate because if she removes the existing wallpaper the trunking will come off.
So please write to sjaffer@lambeth.gov.uk to ask her to take up the case.
