Everyone we’ve heard from so far is owed substantial sums of money by NHG. NHG will credit this to your service charge account. If you want the money credited to your bank account (which we imagine most people do) you need to contact your housing officer. Let me know how you get on.
There’s huge discrepancies in how much people have received. I know one leaseholders who has received a refund of over £3,000 and another who has received barely £1,000. This may be legitimate but we do need to know the reason why. Can you also send us a copy of the service charge statement you received. This will help us identify further discrepancies
You have the legal right to receipts to justify your service charges. As they’ve charged everything at estate level some people will be contributing to block costs on blocks other than theirs. If you want to demand receipts this form by the Social Housing Action Campaign is the best place to do it. Please also let me know you’ve done it.
At the leaseholder general meeting last month we agreed “If they [NHG] do publish accounts by mid August we will go door to door asking NHG leaseholders to ask for receipts”. Let us know if you’d be up for this.
