Out Petitioning For Better Youth Facilities

Thanks to all four people who helped out petitioning for better youth facilities on Sunday 23rd July. And thanks to all 39 people who signed. We heard some great stories from residents

203 residents have now signed our petition. If we missed you, you can sign our petition online

Here are some of the stories we’ve heard

  • “My son has Down Syndrone and I would like him to have the facilities to be active. There is nothing for him to do on the estate” (Derrick House)
  • “I am a youth worker in West Norwood. I know good youth facilities can transform lives” (Saunders House)
  • “My children did not have these facilities when growing up. It would have been beneficial to them getting out of the flat and meeting other children” (Baldwin House)
  • “When I was a teenager I wish I would have had the opportunity to use it. I hope my nieces and nephews grow up to use it” (Baldwin House)
  • “It is important to have youth facilities in the community especially a facility promised to residents. Residents should be given clarity of the reason why this facility is currently closed” (Taylor House)
  • “I am aware from personal experience of the need to provide alternatives for our young people. Not all of them have options. Household setups and inner city deprivation affect all affect things in SW2” (Hart House)
  • “I witness a lot of young people loitering and getting into trouble and crime because they have no positive facilities for them to attend” (Derrick House)
